Jury awards $1M for gauze pads left in reverse-vasectomy patient
A Hillsborough County jury on April 28 awarded $1 million to a man who sustained nerve damage in his groin area because his urologist left behind two gauze pads after performing a reverse vasectomy. As a result, Thomas Asimos, 38, claimed the pain and sensitivity in his scrotum caused problems with his fiancee and he’ll need six months to a year of treatments to manage the pain. Counsel for defendant Dr. Lawrence Grey argued that the pads were from Asimos' vasectomy procedure in 1998.
