MedicaidforHBOT.com is dedicated to helping parents of brain-injured children, whether it's autism, cerebral palsy, Down's Syndrome. Whatever it is, MedicaidforHBOT is here to help parents access Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and reimbursement of HBOT through the EPSDT program of their state Medicaid agency, according to Paragraph 5 of the EPSDT statute as found in 42 USC § 1396d(r)(1-5). Jimmy is a Georgia Medicaid recipient who first received 42 treatments in 1999 but was denied Medicaid reimbursement of future HBOT from 1999 until 2008. After numerous years, hearings, and court decisions, Georgia Medicaid finally agreed in 2008 that evidence first provided to them by Jimmy’s parents in 1999 was proof enough that HBOT was correcting Jimmy’s hypoxic-ischemic brain-injury--despite contradictory statements and sworn testimony by at least a half dozen pediatric neurologists. This means the parents were always right and the neurologists were always wrong. Many parents do know more than neurologists and EPSDT empowers parents to find something--anything--to correct (cure) their child's disability. MedicaidforHBOT members have free access to dozens of documents to use in making Medicaid requests for not only HBOT but other off-label interventions as well. When parents demand their children's Federally-mandated rights and seek HBOT, more and more of the institutional and bureaucratic barriers will be forever knocked down, and this discussion forum will facilitate unprecedented change in the disabled community.
