Description

Important message to our new members:
1.We have over 1000 members on this list. Please be very careful when you intend to reply privately to the author of an email posted on this list-server. It is very common for our new members to accidentally send their private messages to all members. When you intend to send a private message in reply to an email, please do not use the reply option. Always start a new email and type in the recipient’s email address.
2.When you create a new topic for discussion, please make the subject line very clear. Some of our members prefer to read only the technical emails discussed in this forum. The selection process for reading all types of emails is much easier if the subject line is clear.

This Mailing List is dedicated to Medical Dosimetry and the wonderful people who do their work behind the scenes.Medical Dosimetrists are members of the Medical Physics section of the Radiation Oncology Team. Medical Dosimetrists are skilled in calculating and planning radiation doses for cancer patients. Educational backgrounds may vary; ideally, they are certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. They may be college graduates with a physics and/or mathematics background who have been clinically trained by qualified personnel. Some may be Radiation Therapists with many years of clinical experience and training by Medical Physicists in dosimetry.
Medical Dosimetry is the measurement and calculation of dose for the treatment of cancer patients. This is accomplished by various means; the uses of meters, chemicals, detection devices and computers. Following these measurements the information is presented to the Radiation Oncologist for approval before the application of the actual treatment to the patient.
