Hello all -
Well, after 31 years of Marfan's it seems to be my husband's turn to
have problems. Last fall he had eye surgery and today he was informed
that his aorta is dilated enough that they want to do surgery. It is
at 4.8. Actually it was at 4.8 LAST JULY but apparently no one read
the MRI and/or thought we should know then. Nice. Anyway...on
Wednesday he is supposed to speak with a surgeon from OHSU in Portland
and I expect they will want him to go up there ASAP for another MRI
and to talk about options.
Does anyone have experience with cardiologists at OHSU? A specific
surgeon? Can you vouch that they really know Marfan's? Is it the
absolute best place in Oregon to go?
We are still going around with the insurance about why his eye surgery
had to be done up there so I know I'm going to have to convince them
on this too.
Not only is the prospect of surgery scary but the timing is awful--in
6 weeks we are supposed to go bring home our baby girl we're adopting.
Ugh. I can't believe this. Please send up prayers as well as sharing
your wisdom on doctors. Thanks.
Wendy (Oregon)
