Re: [Male Eating Disorders] Reaching out

What's up man? My name is Brad - I am 25 and in similar circumstances - though
my weight has not fluctuated as dramatically. However, this whole problem seems
to control me. After years of therapy over many other issues and attempts to
permanently control this problem - i know that this going to be a life long
battle. Fill me in on what you've been trying. I've tried different diets,
tried OA, I have done various work out routines but always fall out of them,
I've tried not bringing any money with me or bank cards with when i go out so i
don't buy junk food and binge eat it all. I've tried reminder notes all over my
environment to remind me why it's important to care for my health. My mom even
passed away after a life long battle with eating. All of this you'd think would
put an end to it - but it won't. However, my buddhist practice has offered a
tremendous amount of resolved, determination and support. Also - and this is
big - you may be addicted to sugar and wheat
products. Anyhow - please feel free to email me directly, this board is
somewhat quiet and we can either chat online or continue to email.

You will get through this!

Brad

Hello all,
My name is Jonathan and I have had an eating disorder since I was 16.
I started out weighing 320 (at 5'2) and my weight has fluctuated
since then. I have been as low as 120 and back up to 260. Now at
21, I am now working out and staying at about 153 (still at 5'2). I
really need help, because not that I am an adult, my disorder seems
to control me. I overeat, then starve it out. I have become
dependent on gas pills and diuretics to purge. I know I can't
continue like this, but I don't know any other way to go. I need
feedback.

Hi, I'm double your age and weight. I was interested to see that you use gas pills to help. Do you get a bloated feeling in your spare tire? If so, do the gas...
