hi, i have been in recovery for almost 18 months from my ed. i am
22 female in my senior year in college. i have been doing speakings
on eds for years, way before i was recovered or even close. it does
do a lot of good. but if you are not ready, then wait. the first
time is the hardest, it gets easier but still is nerve racking every
time i do it to this day. my goal is to touch just one life and if
i do more then i am truly blessed. when people tend to know you
they listen better. it is tough when you talk to the younger crowd
or as i have found out to even my own age, that they don't listen.
but like i said i go in with the attitude that i plant a seed and
hopefully somebody else will water it. i just wanted people to hear
what it was really like having an ed, not what the books say. one
word of advice stay away from talking about food and weight and how
much you lost or lowest, ect. it tends to cause a negative effect
on somebody who is struggling. plus eds are not about food and
weight, they are about stuff so much deeper. that is an area i am
careful with. with little kids or an immature group or if i know
someone in the class is personally struggling i try to watch what i
say. i would hate to trigger someone. just my opinion. you just
have to find what works for you. it may take some time but it will
work out.
in christ's love
