I have recently been searching the internet for emerging forms of
birth control, because it has recently come to my attention that
female oral contraceptives may have side effects I am uncomfortable
with as someone against abortion (the issue of preventing
implantation). Unfortunately, information on the barrier methods has
disappointed me in their lack of effectiveness, and inconvenience. My
fiance was even considering a vasectomy because these methods can
interfere with spontanaity and pleasure. We don't plan to have
children but neither of us are totally comfortable making a permanent
decision. Regardless of anyone's views on these issues, I just
wanted to encourage you that in addition to the other reasons that
there may be a market and interest in male contraception, there are
many who are finding out the pill is not for them, and are being left
with the disappointing alternatives available. The male
contraceptive methods could be a totally non-abortificiant,
temporary, and convenient means of birth control. If only they were
available today!
Which of these methods is the closest to approval in the US? Are any
of them close? We are very interested but a bit nervous about
participating in a trial!
