Greets,
I'm 25, very healthy, with normal blood pressure. I don't take any
medications or smoke.
I see from what reading I've done that Nifedipine and similar calcium
blockers cause reversable infertility in 80% of patients or so...
I have also not found a whole lot of negative side affects regarding
these inhibitors. Nifedipine is given to patients with normal blood
pressure for other simptoms than hypertension.
Given that Nifedipine and derivatives cause sperm to be 'unable' to
complete their purpose, where does one go to have the cholesterol
content checked?
What I'm really asking here, is whether anybody has just started
taking a nominal dosage of these common drugs, and even if not...
Where would one get tested for success?
If there is a way to test whether I was in the 80% of affected
patients, I feel relatively confidant that this common hypertension
medication has low enough side affect incidence to be worth taking vs
making my female companion wear a patch or other hormonal solution.
I'm trying to be responsible in a political climate that has
consistantly ignored the reason so many unplanned pregnancies happen
in the first place. Guys don't WANT our girlfriends pregnant, but we
also don't want them moody, not in the mood, and cramping.
I'm willing to give it a shot, has anybody else tried? If I'm on the
wrong track as to what's the most current, semi-available method,
please correct me.
P.S. This is assuming a doctor can be found who will prescribe.
People convince their docs they need all sorts of things, I don't
anticipate a problem.
Thanks.
