New energy in the General Assembly

"The AIDS Competence approach has affected my entire life including my profession, family and personal development. I am a new person today," explains Joseph Senesie as a motivation to become a voting member of the Constellation.
During the General Assembly, voting members of the Constellation agreed on the constitution of the new membership and approved the 2007 activity report. Four of the twelve voting members will be replaced.

350 SALT teams with religious leaders and PLHIV appreciate communities strengths in Thailand

The Norwegian Church Aid used the AIDS Competence Process (ACP) in their projects in Thailand. 44 facilitators accompany 350 SALT teams throughout the country to stimulate ownership of the HIV issue in local communities. "Once I understood why to use the ACP, I could develop my own how and adapt the approach to our context. It improves the quality of our work," explained Khun Somthong Srisudhivong, the Regional AIDS Program Coordinator in S-E Asia.

The AIDS Competence Process will be adapted to face the next influenza pandemic

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies want to adapt the AIDS Competence Process to the Human Preparedness to Pandemics. The first step is to develop a draft self-assessment and to test it in three countries.

Constellation reinforces its support to SALT teams in Papua New Guinea

Since one year, the Constellation and local SALT teams stimulate local responses toward HIV in 5 provinces in Papua New Guinea with the support of the World Health Organisation and UNICEF.
The Constellation sent a proposal to WHO and UNICEF for the second year process which includes intensive support to the SALT teams implementing the AIDS Competence Process.

Sharing of experience with the AIDS Competence Process (ACP) in India

NGOs and organisations involved in stimulating local responses in India shared their experiences with the ACP on the Solution Exchange platform. "There is a general enthusiasm about the new concept as a tool for HIV response. […] ACP has given a new dimension into collective strength and collective effort as a possible solution to a village problem.[…] While external projects are time bound and continuity is not guaranteed, community is sustainable."

Join us on a week of SALT visit in Northern Thailand

From 19 to 26 of September 2008, the Constellation organizes another week of SALT visits in Northern Thailand. The strengths of people in Northern Thailand have inspired the Constellation from its foundation: come and experience by yourself!

When Belgium learns from RD-Congo

BelCompetence organizes a workshop on 6 and 7 June with Eric Ngabala, a Constellation coach from RD-Congo and vice-President of RDC Competence. Any interested person can participate by sending an email to Aude Picavet (audepicavet@...) or Aicha Benyaich (benyaicha@...). This is a unique opportunity for Belgian facilitators to learn from the experience of RD-Congo where hundreds of communities took ownership of the HIV issue with the support of RDC Competence.

Constellation coaches visit NGO in Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Thailand in April and May.

Une nouvelle énergie à l'Assemblée Générale

« L'approche de la Compétence face au SIDA a une influence sur ma vie entière y compris mon développement professionnel, familial, et personnel. Je suis une nouvelle personne aujourd'hui, » explique Joseph Senesie pour justifier sa motivation à devenir un membre votant de la Constellation.
Pendant l'Assemblée Générale, les membres votants de la Constellation ont approuvé la constitution d'une nouvelle Assemblée Générale et ont approuvé le rapport d'activités 2007. Quatre des douze membres votants seront remplacés.

350 équipes SALT avec des leaders regilieux et des PVV apprécient les forces de communautés en Thaïlande

Le Norwegian Church Aid a utilisé l'Approche de la Compétence face au SIDA (ACP) dans tous ses projets en Thaïlande. 44 facilitateurs accompagnent 350 équipes SALT à travers tout le pays afin de stimuler l'appropriation du problème du VIH dans les communautés locales. « Une fois que j'avais compris pourquoi utiliser le ACP, j'ai pu développer mon propre comment et j'ai adapté l'approche à notre propre contexte. L'approche améliore la qualité de notre travail, » explique Khun Somthong Srisudhivong, la Coordinatrice Régionale SIDA en Asie du sud-est.

Le Processus de la Compétence face au SIDA va être adapté pour faire face à la prochaine pandémie de grippe

La Fédération Internationale des sociétés de la Croix Rouge et du Croissant Rouge veut adapter le Processus de la Compétence face au SIDA à la préparation à une pandémie. La première étape est de développer une grille d'autoévaluation et de la tester dans trois pays.

La Constellation renforce son soutien aux équipes SALT en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée

Depuis un an, la Constellation et des équipes SALT stimulent les réponses locales face au SIDA dans 5 provinces en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée avec le soutien de l'Organisation Mondiale de la Santé et l'UNICEF.
La Constellation a envoyé une proposition à l'OMS et à l'UNICEF pour la deuxième année du processus, qui inclut un soutien intensif aux équipes SALT.

Partage d'expériences avec le Processus de la Compétence face au SIDA (ACP) en Inde

Des ONG et des organisations qui stimulent les réponses locales en Inde ont partagé leur expérience avec le ACP sur la plateforme de Solution Exchange. « Les gens sont enthousiastes par rapport au nouveau concept comme outil pour une réponse face au VIH. […] ACP a donné une nouvelle dimension aux forces collectives et aux efforts collectifs comme une solution possible au problème de village. […] Les projets externes sont limités dans le temps et la continuité n'est pas garantie mais la communauté est durable. »

Du 19 au 26 septembre, la Constellation organise une semaine de visites SALT en Thaïlande du Nord. Les forces des gens en Thaïlande du Nord ont inspiré la Constellation dès sa fondation: venez et faites l'expérience par vous-même !

Quand la Belgique apprend de la RD-Congo

BelCompetence organise un atelier de formation le 6 et 7 juin avec Eric Ngabala, un coach de la Constellation de la RD-Congo et Vice-Président de RDC Compétence. Toute personne intéressée peut participer en envoyant un email à Aude Picavet (audepicavet@...) ou Aicha Benyaich (benyaicha@...). C'est une opportunité unique pour les facilitateurs belges d'apprendre de l'expérience de la RD-Congo où des centaines de communautés se sont appropriées la question du VIH avec le soutien de RDC Compétence.

Nouvelles à venir

Les représentants des réseaux de transporteurs et de Personnes Vivants avec le VIH de la région des Grands Lacs se réuniront à Kinshasa pour un évènement d'apprentissage sur "la mesure du changement" de la compétence face au SIDA.

Les coaches de la Constellation visitent les ONG au Cambodge, en Inde, en Indonésie, aux Philippines, en Papouasie Nouvelle Guinée et en Thaïlande en avril et en mai..
