Colleagues,

What Adama is arguing is very true. There should be a deliberate move to
accessing funding at least for the 12 pilot countries so that a demonstrable
impact could trigger other donors to commit funds in this area. In a small
scale that each country had tried the approach, there is no doubt that
malaria competence works and is a potential and sustainable method of
fighting malaria.But already most malaria activists are fascinated with
other approaches. If we can show them that malaria competence is the
reliable vehicle to carry those approaches, they will definitely support it.
However, they need to see it first. I believe all of us are ready to
demonstrate to them this truth, but we are constrained with funding.
If the RBM is convinced, let them make a deliberate move by allocating
funding so that malaria competence is scaled up more faster.
