Now that many of us are getting back to their offices, I think it is time for an update on activities:

 

In answer to the request of many of you and with support from the RBM partnership, the Malaria Competence Community is working on the production of a set of documents that capture lessons learned and help countries in their Malaria (Competence) Activities.

 

In the coming month we would like to draw more lessons from experience and refine existing available materials from the group.

 

1) We want to add concrete examples to the knowledge assets that were build from Yaoundé. These Knowledge Assets are available in the Yahoo platform under 'files', and for this purpose we would like to focus on the knowledge assets on: demand creation, prevention, effective timely treatment, strenghthening delivery systems.

 

2) A toolbox for facilitators of the Malaria Competence Process is now available in the files section of the yahoo platform - in French and English.

 

3) There is a great need of a critical appraisal of the Malaria Competence Approach - why does it work, what needs to be improved, why would groups use the approach.

 

We would like to request your help to ensure quality of these products. During the month of September we will use this platform to obtain answers to upcoming questions while we are working on these docs; we may also contact you individually. 

 

Also, please let me (marlou@aidscompeten ce.org) know if you are interested to spend quality time to work on one or more of the above items; where needed and applicable we can discuss financial compensation for your contribution. Your input would be very much appreciated!

 

Hope that together we can improve our materials and bring them up to date - towards more Malaria Competence!
