RE : [malariacompetence] RE: [Aids Competence] Global Fund - Round 6 - Another Opportunity

Dear Ibrahim,
As the school health program for Niamey Region i was asked to propose malaria school activities to the  National Malaria Control Program for the next five strategique plan.
One of the activities that  I proposed is " l'auto evakuation des competences en matiere de lutte contre le paludisme en milieu scolaire." I mean to improve  preventing malaria by applying  the malaria competence approach in school communities.
We had a national meeting for compyling different ministries propsitions and this activiy was accepted. This report is welcomed and will be usefful for us.

Dear All,
We are at the moment working on our (Sierra Leone) Global Fund round 6 proposals for both HIV/AIDS and malaria components. As Plan Sierra Leone, we are including in our proposal “Promotion of HIV/AIDS competence process in Sierra Leone” in the HIV/AIDS component and also including in the malaria component “Promotion of Malaria Competence Process in Sierra Leone” Besides this effort, the National Malaria Control Program has also included the “Promotion of Malaria Competences Process in Schools and Communities among their country Global Fund Malaria Component Main Objectives for round 6. This is really a follow up action on our just concluded Malaria Study Tour to the Gambia which was sponsored by one of our supporting partners: Action for West Africa Region – AWARE/RH/USAID based in Accra, Ghana (please see attached study tour report). I am also using this opportunity to thank “WARE/RH/USAID Regional Director” and the “Child Survival & Malaria Specialist” who have been very instrumental in supporting malaria competence in the West Africa sub-region.
Sierra Leone will therefore want to keep in touch with all of you for support as time goes.
I will also use this opportunity to encourage colleagues to look at the possibility of including HIV/AIDS and or malaria competence process in their Global Fund proposals as well as other funding opportunities that may come their way. That is really what I am doing at the moment – try to promote the competence process in every given opportunity. Our efforts have started paying off as evident from AWARE/RH/USAID’s support to Sierra Leone especially towards malaria programme in the country (they have started sponsoring and have good plans for helping the country through the National Malaria Control Programme). This is another opportunity – the Global Fund.
I wish every one of you the best of luck in your attempt to promote the competence/live competence process.
My best regards
Ibrahim
