Dear friends,
A warm hello to everyone I met in Yaounde - it is great to catch up
on your current activities via this discussion group. Adama, nange
def sama xarit? Adama's post below caught my attention. RBM
Partnership Secretariat is now involved (along with MIM, FAS and
Kvinnoforum) in creating a network concerning gender and malaria.
Marie Chorr was with us at a workshop in Arusha in March and
represented well the community competence approach.
My question for everyone reading this: are you, in any way, working
on combating malaria from a gender approach? Or, are there parts of
your work that are informed by gender or impacted by gender? This can
mean doing outreach to women's groups (for malaria competence),
understanding how women and men may access prevention and treatment
measures differently, using women's caretaking role as point of
departure for initiatives like home-based diagnose and treatment,
etcetera.
An NGO, Kvinnoforum, is currently compiling information about
organisations working on the topic of malaria and gender for a
resource book on the topic. They asked me to reach out to this group
for help on who is doing this type of work so they can contact you
for further information.
So....I would be very grateful for any response to this post. I would
be most happy to provide more information on this initiative to
anyone interested and the network is definitely open to anyone
interested as well.
Kind regards,
Katie
