Most (but not all) of the research/study abstracts I've found
published fall on the side of positive effects of repetitive (~10Hz)
high density (>2 Tesla) magnetic stimulation of prefrontal lobes on
depression.
These effects are reported to be transient, lasting several weeks at
the outside, 2 weeks on average. This transience coupled with non-
availability of treatment (in the US, anyway) has created some bitter
patients who were study subjects, now cast adrift.
Clinical strength machines by Nerosoft, Neotonus, Medtronic and
others cost $7500 (the Russian Neurosoft) to $38,000+ for the
Medtronic MagPro. We of course cannot buy them at any price in the
U.S. as the FDA has not approved it.
So I'm building my own.
They have simple circuits, though the controls must be precise.
I'll be establishing a website for idea and hope exchange, and the
usual warnings, I suppose.
The danger of doing this is nothing compared to the continuing danger
of depression.
If thine eye offend thee...
Of course, if someone here has a machine available, let's talk.
