What exactly is your mom's problem? My mother is 86 and has used dime
size neodymium magnets for many years now quite
successfully....especially for arthritic aches and pains. She lives
alone and finds them very easy to apply/use whenever she needs them.
They are not the same as the magnetic roller you describe.
