Description
This is a group for discussion, news and activism in the field of mad liberation, the struggle for the emancipation of the psychologically different. Oppression of people labelled as mad, or in terms of psychological categories, and also oppression and social exclusion of people whose psychology does not fit to a narrow definition of normality, are pervasive in contemporary societies. The struggle for mad liberation - which is also a struggle against normalism, against the belief that the normal are superior to the different and that the normal have a right to enforce social standards which discriminate against the psychologically different - is one of the most important liberation struggles of the present.
This list (run by someone who is psychologically different) is open to all who self-identify as mad, as psychologically different, or as having some specific psychological/psychiatric condition or abnormality; all those who have been so labelled, even if they identify as normal; and others who identify with and support the struggle for mad liberation. Normalists, however, will be booted.
