Here is one hypothesis – maybe this
just means that the Salt/C is killing the Lyme bugs through a dehydration
process, as Marc and others have suggested. So then why would we become dehydrated
when it is the bad bacteria that is being dehydrated? Maybe
we have a

excessive thirst and the Salt/C protocol
I have been plagued with excessive thirst on and off
throughout my battle with Lyme and Babs. Lab testing has shown over
time that my sodium and chloride has been low. I am not sure if this is
due to Lyme or Babs or the combination of the 2. It does not seem related
to meds at all.
When I first was told by my alternative doc that the
low sodium and chloride likely contributed to some of my cognitive issues, I
had just read about the Salt/C protocol, and decided to try
it. For the last month I have consistently used it 3 times a
day. I am using Real Salt.
At first, it seemed to help with my feeling of
excessive thrist, but over the past week, it has gotten much worse. It is
to the point where it will actually wake me up at night, I feel so
thirsty. Drinking water seems to help very little. Sometimes I
actually feel a little dehydrated.
Can any of you venture a guess as to why that might be
happening? If I am drinking loads of water, I am just pushing my sodium
lower. In regards to the Salt/C, should I consider pushing it up or
down? Could it be that my body is adjusting to the levels, and it
would be good to push it on up?
I have been a little afraid to push it too high, due
to BP issues.
Finally getting my sodium up has helped alot with my
cognitive issues. I previously thought that it was the illnesses, but
have now decided that my alternative doc was right and the sodium/chloride has
indeed contributed to my cognitive problems. What a pity this went
unrecognized for such a long time.
Anyone have any advice for me?
Many thanks!!
