Most people's diets contain far more sodium than they need. People with conditions such as high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, or edema or fluid retention may especially benefit from sodium restriction.
However, it can be very hard to restrict sodium. Lower sodium isn't "in," and most prepared foods contain large amounts of sodium. This list is to provide both lower sodium recipes as well as tips, hints, and sources for finding lower sodium prepared foods.
This list is for all levels of sodium restriction, from those just desiring to moderate their sodium intake, to those who must practice strict sodium restriction.
However, this list does not allow the following:
