Hi Vicki!
I'm JoAnn and will be 50 this year and have been in menopause for ... 5 + years!
I too am a carb addict, and although I haven't completely weaned myself off of
them, I make better choices concerning the carbs I do eat. I eat whole wheat
pasta and brown rice and about half the quantity I used to eat, if I notice that
bloated feeling that gives me extra incentive to cut back even further next
time. I can't wait to try the cauliflower bread stick recipe tho!
I've been able to keep the weight down by exercising a min. of 30 minutes daily,
and at least an hour 3 times a week. I'm only 5 feet tall, and although I'm
125, thanks to working with weights, my muscle tone is better than it was when I
was in my 20's. I do also take bio-identical plant hormones, so that may also
be helping with the shape I'm in.
Anyway, hang in there, it'll get better, we're with you! I have to add in about
exercise that it has helped me cope with 'the change' mentally too. No more
anti-depressants! And so much more energy! Although I think cutting back on
refined carbs also helps immensely!

Hi, My name is Vicki and I'm 51 years old. I have been a chronic dieterfor over
25 years. I've been extremely heavy (249-1/2 lbs) and extremelythin (117 lbs).
From 1983 until 1995 I stayed around 135 lbs which was agood weight for me as
I'm 5'9" tall. In 1995 I worked a job that wasphysically demanding and I dropped
down to 117 lbs, but only mantainedthat for a few months. By April 1996 I was
back to 135 lbs and gettingmarried. And since my marriage almost 12 years ago
I've gone up to 194lbs, down to 142 lbs., then went into full menopause and I
went all theway back up to 240.8 lbs. Since Jan. 11-2008 I've lost 12.8 lbs but
it'sbeen a real struggle to stay on a diet. I don't want to live the rest ofmy
life on one, day after day. I need to learn to eat in a more normalmanner and
eat smaller portions. I know I have a carb addition and it'swhat puts weight on
me faster than anything so I want to learn to let goof the addictions to carbs
and hopefully over time drop some moreweight. I know I won't ever see 142 lbs
again. But I'd love to be ableto get back down to around 160 lbs and maintaine
it. So this is what mygoal is.Vicki
