Hi, My name is Vicki and I'm 51 years old. I have been a chronic dieter
for over 25 years. I've been extremely heavy (249-1/2 lbs) and extremely
thin (117 lbs). From 1983 until 1995 I stayed around 135 lbs which was a
good weight for me as I'm 5'9" tall. In 1995 I worked a job that was
physically demanding and I dropped down to 117 lbs, but only mantained
that for a few months. By April 1996 I was back to 135 lbs and getting
married. And since my marriage almost 12 years ago I've gone up to 194
lbs, down to 142 lbs., then went into full menopause and I went all the
way back up to 240.8 lbs. Since Jan. 11-2008 I've lost 12.8 lbs but it's
been a real struggle to stay on a diet. I don't want to live the rest of
my life on one, day after day. I need to learn to eat in a more normal
manner and eat smaller portions. I know I have a carb addition and it's
what puts weight on me faster than anything so I want to learn to let go
of the addictions to carbs and hopefully over time drop some more
weight. I know I won't ever see 142 lbs again. But I'd love to be able
to get back down to around 160 lbs and maintaine it. So this is what my
goal is.

Welcome to the group, Vicki!
Low carb is definitely the way to go.
Do you follow a specific low carb way of eating?
It helps to stop looking at this as a diet, because it really is a way of
life.
Happy Healthy Low Carbing!
Laura
