What is this thing called sleep you keep talking about? LOL
With a colicky baby, there has become no such thing as
sleep...unfortunatesleep

As a new mommy, remember that you don't have to try to be supermom. If your
baby isn't letting you sleep just yet, maybe see about having a friend come
give you a nap break. A dear friend took pity on me with my first colicky
baby, and came over in the after noon to give me a break for about a week.
The sweet lady also put dinner on while I snuck a quick nap and was a real
lifesaver. If you don't have a friend (or family member) who volunteers, you
could certainly ask one if they would be so kind. Don't be shy. Some folks
don't realize you could use the help if you don't let them know. If she is
also a mom, she will definitely understand and be happy to help. Remember all
those offers from folks who said, let me know if I can help with anything...
those are the ones to call right now. Sleep is SO healing and you will do
BOTH of you a big favor if you get some. Babies can tell when we are stressed,
and dealing with a colicky baby on limited sleep doesn't help. Even if it
means sneaking off for a quick nap after hubby gets home, it really helps.
If all else fails, catnap when she naps. I know it isn't a lot, but it's
better than nothing. You can leave the cleaning and such until later. Sleep
should definitely be a priority.
If I were closer, I would certainly come give you a break.
hugs,
Laura
