Re: [LowCarb Lounge] Still Mainlining Sugar   Message List

Hi JoAnn,

Breaking the sugar habit was very hard for me, too. I have been sugar free now
for several months and it feels good. Something that works well for me if
sugar-free products. I don't use them all the time, but when I get a real urge
for something sweet, I buy myself a small portion of SF candy or ice cream. I
don't usually keep it in the house, just get it when I really need it. It seems
to work. I will also sometimes eat a piece of fruit, which very often satisfies
a sugar craving. It wasn't until I withdrew from sugar and refined carbs and
just removed them from my life that I started losing weight. I don't follow any
particular plan, just eat healthy proteins and fats, some fruits and lots of
vegetables, nuts, and sometimes healthy grains. This seems to work for me,
along with portion control.

Other things I do for cravings is read email, write in a journal, write down
gratitude lists and goals about my weight and my health. One thing for sure, if
you stay off sugar long enough, you don't really think about it any more. That
is the real key.

Hope this helps.
Sharon

Subject: [LowCarb Lounge] Still Mainlining Sugar

Hi,

I'm JoAnn and I feel like I'm a heroin addict! My teeth hurt from
eating so much sugar and I feel horrible! I'm only 5 feet tall so
last Dec. when I hit 140 pounds (I've always weighed around 102 -
107 in my younger days!) I knew I had to do something.

I had an incentive of a going on vacation. So I did the Southbeach
Diet, and hit the gym 6 days a week! By Feb. I was down to 127 and
feeling better than I had in a long, long time. I had muscle! I
had energy!

After returning from vacation I slowly went back to my bad habits of
sugar and TV watching. I need help! I KNOW how bad the processed
carbs are for me and yet ... I guess I'm eating for comfort. I'm
going on another bathing suit vacation at the end of October and
you'd think that would motivate me, but with a little over a month
to go I'm just not that motivated.

Right now my weight is 134

someone brought in 2 boxes of donuts I ate one

I exercised on Sat. for over an hour
took my dog for a long walk Sunday
couch potato Monday and today
goal for next week is to exercise at least 4 days!
and start doing the Southbeach diet on Monday.

If anyone has some tips on how to avoid sugar or what to do when you
get an insatiable craving please let me know!

Thanks Sharon, I don't know why I give in to the sugar demon, but I've found that it is decreasing in it's intensity. Did you have sugar withdrawal? Bad...
