Dear All,
Balancing inspired goals with living in the ever-present ...this what determines how magnificent our lives will be. Like Roosevelt said, "Keep your eyes on the stars but keep your feet on the ground."
I keep getting messages from people sharing how they have had remarkable experiences with these simple teachings. From time to time I like to share the stories I get so we can all benefit.
Some time back I had shared an exercise with this group for activating the power of thought and intention to create our reality. I'm pasting it below just to remind you...
Our dear friend Karn did this exercise whole heartedly. He has been working in Hyderabad with a leading newspaper .The results of his little experiement were quite extra-ordinary, and I believe will inspire many of us.
Here now is Karn's story...

Dear Nyanasanti,
I have no problems with you sharing my story on your yahoo group... in
fact, i wish more people could know these stories (other than just
those on the group), because it really works... Many people i meet are
even reluctant to try it, unfortunately...
I didn't answer immediately as I was waiting for the complete story to
un fold. Here's what happened after I mail you... and I think it has
an important warning about visualising and dreaming.
-----
So I went to the interview with the three goals in my pocket (the
first : A Pg. 1 story and the second : A job at the TV channel ). The
meeting went really well. I was confident throughout, and I felt like
i'd already gotten the job. The next day, I got a call from Human
Resources, asking me to come in and discuss a pay-package, meaning
that I had pretty much got the job.
I took out the 3 pieces of paper from my wallet, looked at them one
last time, and decided to update them. So i tore them up, and replaced
them with 2 slips of paper. The first one was again, the job at the TV
channel (as i felt i still hadnt completely got it). The second was
now to go on a road-trip with one of my best friends.
Now let me come back to the original slip of paper. I had written my
goal on top ( the job ), and below it, written my reasons for it.
Behind, i had written why i knew i would achieve my goal. In one of my
reasons, I had written how much i wanted to be paid. This was the
first time i was putting down my goal on paper.
When i went into for negotiations... they took almost a day without
them giving me a figure. When they did give me a figure, i thought it
was a tad on the low side, and that I could do more. So i asked them
to raise it... They said they would take a couple of days.
When i got back in the car to go home, i remembered the now-discarded
piece of paper. The salary I had written was the EXACT same of the one
that had been offered to me. Not a rupee more or less. I had gotten
exactly what I asked for. A couple of days later, they got back to
me.. but the salary was still the same.
So my lesson here is, if you're going to ask for something, don't
limit yourself. If you're going to visualise, visualise BIG. Ask for
the sky... i know I am. When you think of it this way, the biggest
goals, be they for yourself or the world... dont seem so out of reach.
thats all for me...
love,
karn
Amazing story Karn. And we all wish you wonderful success in all dimensions of your life. See you on TV then!?
Before ending this, I can't resist adding this interesting piece of research on goals...
According to Brian Tracy in his book Goals!, there is a study that reveals just how effective written goals can be. Here is what Tracy reports:
Mark McCormack, in his book What They Don't Teach You at Harvard Business School, tells of a Harvard study conducted between 1979 and 1989. In 1979, the graduates of the MBA program were asked, "Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?" It turned out that only 3 percent of the graduates had written goals and plans. Thirteen percent had goals, but not in writing. Fully 84 percent had no specific goals at all.
Ten years later, in 1989, the researchers found that the 13 percent who had goals that were not in writing were earning twice as much as the 84 percent of students who had no goals at all. And most surprisingly, they found that the 3 percent of graduates who had clear, written goals when they left Harvard were earning, on average, 10 times as much as the other 97 percent of graduates all together. The only difference between the groups was the clarity of the goals they had for themselves when they graduated.
Yes, you read that correctly. The 3 percent who had clear, written goals earned ten times as much as the 97 percent who didn't have clear, written goals.
I share this to demonstrate the power of clear intention and dreams with deadlines. I hope atleast 3% of the people who read this mail will write down clear goals for themselves in all areas of their life (physical, career, finances, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, the world etc.) and review them often.
There is great love here. All is well.
Nyanasanti

For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life.
But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid.
Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
