Hi I am new to this web board so I thought I would introduce myself. My
name is Melissa "Renee" (i go by my middle name) and I live in Texas,
but I am from Florida originally. I tested positive for hepatitis c
about 6-7 years ago but have been sort of in denial about it since then
and have never followed up on any other kind of tests or anything.
Recently a physical showed up my Liver enzymes?? were high and my
doctor wanted me to have some lab work done which I didn't do. I don't
really know why but I just cant seem to get myself to deal with this,
and I keep finding reasons why I should just keep avoiding it. I found
this websight by searching for hepatitis c and texas. I thought it
would be nice to talk to others who have hepatitis c and learn more
about it. When I fiirst found out I had it years ago I went to web md
and made some friends there but then I just got scared and quit having
anythign at all to do with anything or anyone who had anythign to do
with hepatitis. I guess I am pretty good at denial. Anyways if any of
you have some advice for me it would be greatly appreciated. ALso if
there is an active chat here or elsewhere I would love to know about it
so that I could talk to others who know about hepatits c.
Thank you
~Renee

Thanks, I am out of the hospital, and fortunately, everything went well, I
am still stage 2+ so my clotting is good. The surgery was fairly painful,
and dry heaving with a 4 inch gash in your belly is not something I would
recommend to ANYONE, I wanted to die that day, but everything seems to be
going well now, I do seem to have a much higher tolerance for pain
medication now, to bad I don't have a higher tolerance for pain!!

I have had sever surgeries and 2 MAJOR surgeries and I did fine. Only thing is
I need more medication due to the cerosis (stage 4) and my body not absorbing
medications well.

I just wanted to let you know that I have had problems with the
anestia along with my wife. What it does is slow hear rate and the
rest of your organs. Also would check your bleeding time before you
have the surgery.

All, I just wonder if any of y'all have had major surgeries, and what effect
your hep had on these surgeries. I am stage 3, and going in for a spinal
fusion next week, I am waiting for the results of a clotting test to
determine if I can even have the surgery. I have heard, anecdotally, that

Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that I am back and doing great
these days. I will admit I do have my days in missing Conniep1954 who
passed on November 2nd. I would like to find out from you all who
would want to get the chats going again like we had for so many years
know. I am willing to take suggestions from you all about this and to
work on a game plan. I would like to reserve one week just for
dealing with explaining Hcv and the types of treatments to new
patients. On the other 3 weeks we could change arround on the topic or
have stories to tell others about how we have delt with our Hcv. I
will be looking forward to hearing from you all on this so we could
get this going by the first week of May.

Hi, everyone,
Glad to hear all are doing well. My husband, Mike, just took his
first injection last night for this bout of tx. He is doing 15mcg
Interferon 7 days/week and 1200mg Ribivarin daily. It was a pretty
rough night. I didn't give him the injection till 9:00p.m. and I
was very nervous about it. After I gave it to him, I broke down and
cried and we both held each other. There he was, the one going to
have to deal with the sides, and he is telling me that everything is
going to be alright. I felt so foolish for crying, but I just hated
that he has to go through this again. And I hate giving the
injection knowing that it is going to make him sick. I hate this
disease and the cryo that he has because of it. Please pray for us
both and pray that God gives me the strength to keep working the
long hours at my job and that Mike can make it through the complete
tx this time. Also, I have another business that I have been
working at and, hopefully, it will grow enough to replace my income
at the company I am at so that I can be with him more. If any of
you know someone who wants to make a substantial amount of money
from home or anyone who needs dental coverage, please send them to
my website which is www.bpellman.onesimplecard.com/.

Thanks and everyone have a blessed day,
Love you,
Betty and Mike

So the interferon worked for him? Great! I have not been overwhelmed by its
success rate, and it did not work for me. I am hoping that perhaps

Hi, Sherry,
My husband, Mike, was on Peg in 2002 and made it through 43 weeks. The
drs. pulled him off because of low rbc and also because he had protein in his
urine. Since then we have switched doctors and he is now going to the Liver
Institute in Dallas and has a very good Hepatologist helping him. He also has a
kidney specialist. It was discovered two weeks ago that he has Cryoglobulinemia
as well as Hep C. He has to go back on treatments in March only this time it is
a daily injection along with the rib for 48 weeks. We are not looking forward
to it, but he has no choice. Hope everything goes well with you.

God Bless,
Betty Pellman

I am very sorry to hear of your wife's passing. I know how I would feel if
mine died. I would be lost without a rudder on this journey through life.
Good luck.
As far as the weekly chat, I am out of town too often to participate much,
but I would love to get together with the group for a luncheon or something
like that in Austin or Round Rock once a month on Saturday or Sunday.
Good luck and God Speed.

I just wanted to let you all know that I am hanging in there after
dealing with my Wife Connie's passing. I have many friends out there
who are conforting me during this time. If any of you would like to
see the pictures from her funeral I can post them to the site if you
all would like. Also on her favorite songs I have them on CD and can
email any of you who would like to hear them. My son and I are both
going through weekly greif counciling and therapy to deal with our
loss of Connie. She was a wonderful wife whom I loved dearly for the
4 years and 9 months which I had her in my life. Just to let you all
know when we married she was only given 6 months to live. Some times
I feel like I wonder what I could have done different to help her
get the liver transplant which she needed. She passed due to liver
failure because she was in stage 4 of cirohsis. I would like to see
if you all would like to get a weekly chat going again? The reason
is so we all can know what we need to do to help in the awareness of
HCV.
