Re: [lllofcoastalcarolina] Breast pump rental

depending on the type of surgery, you can usually breastfeed after anesthetic.  talk to your anesthisiologist, and ask that they use an anesthesia which is approved for use in pediatrics.  most anesthesias have short half-lives, in that, once you're awake, they're basically out of your system.

i had a c-section, and nursed right after, and then when my baby was like, 5 months old, i had gall-bladder surgery, and she wasn't on solids, and wouldn't take a bottle.  my surgeon told me i'd HAVE to pump and dump, but i went on kellymom.com, and researched what anesthesias are safe for use while nursing, and when the anesthisiologist came in to meet me during the pre-op stage, i explained that i was nursing, and he said he'd use one that was approved for pediatric use.  my nursling wasn't even sleepy--much to my disappointment, lol!

anyway, other than that, i'd ask the hospital about having access to a pump there.
