Emma, I can definitely say that your story sounds familiar. Here's
the quick version of my story for everybody: I was diagnosed with UC
when I was 4.5 years old, and I was one of the lucky few that had it
so bad I had to have my colon removed and go with the ileostomy when
I was 6. From that point on until the summer before I went into 5th
grade, I had a total of 7 operations. Twice I tried to get rid of the
ileostomy and go with the pull-through but I ended up with a fistula
both times until that last time before 5th grade. I am now 19 and
what can I say other than I'm completely healthy? When it all started
I never thought I would see days like I have now. True I go to the
bathroom more than "normal" people, but I've learned to live with it
and to be able to talk about it. I'm looking forward to getting to
talk to all of you.
Catch ya later,
--Jeff
