Act Today for Autism Health Insurance in W. Virginia

Take Action!

You Pay Your Premiums, Your Kids Deserve Care

West Virginians please act today to support HB 4091 and SB 146, requiring insurers regulated by the state of West Virginia to provide full autism spectrum disorder coverage. This bill seeks to correct the grievous injustice done to West Virginia residents with autism and their families. Similar bills have passed in New York, South Carolina, Texas adn California, and with enough support form families of people with autism we can get it done here too. We pay our premiums, our children deserve coverage.

HB 4091 and SB 146 would require all insurance companies providing coverage in West Virginia to provide full coverage for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment(s) of autism spectrum disorder. Currently, most insurers do not even provide coverage for a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder, let alone appropriate coverage for the treatments for autism spectrum disorder. The diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder to a child is extremely devastating for parents and then to soon learn that insurance coverage is not available for the treatment option(s) that they seek is gut wrenching and heartbreaking.

Please pass this message on to your friends, families, neighbors and anyone else who can take a few minutes to help families struggling with autism.
