Hi everyone,
I thought I'd share my experiences with operations and such because
it seems like the thing to do.
I had 2 operations when I was really young (repairing the
palate, then the lip). I've also had the weird flap operation, a bone
graft and a nose job. I've had mini-surgeries as well like a nose
touch-up and tubes in my ears when I was younger and recently my
wisdom teeth were pulled. My next and hopefully last operation will
be this coming summer. I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to
operations because I have complete faith in my doctors. I go to the
Hospital for Sick Children (eventhough I no longer count as a child).
Its a pediatric hospital in Tonronto, Canada (great place). During
one of my last operations, I actually fell asleep before I was even
givin any drugs. My doctors made fun of me for that. The only part
I hate is the recovery. I've had some pretty rough nights in
recovery rooms.
I've had braces forever. I don't like having them, but I figure
in the long run they're a good thing. My orthodontist is a great guy
and he knows what he's doing, so I leave it up to him. I'm currently
changing dentists. I used to go to the Hospital, but they kicked me
out finally for being too old. I never actually saw a real dentist
there, only student trainees, so I had some painful experiences.
Well, I should be getting back to school work. Ugh. I just
want to say that its great reading about everyone elses experiences.
I've never really met anyone else with cleft lip and palate. Keep on
posting!
