It sounds like you have done great in spite of what you say. I know how you feel in regards to still eating the same things. I mistakenly thought that I could still eat MOST of the same things, just in smaller amounts and I would get to where I wanted to be. Well, obviously not! Having the surgery doesn't change your mind set. I wish I had the magic answer for us both.
I intend to go back to my surgeon as soon as I can get an appointment and it sounds like that would be good for you as well. I feel certain that he would know if you need a fill or not. I never had any problem scheduling a fill, but don't know if I need one now or not as I only qualify for about 50% of the guidelines for needing a fill. Since I'm not eating as I should, for now, I don't know that a fill is in order. Now that I have to pay $150 for each fill, I need to make certain that it's really in my best
interest. Not simply to narrow the passage.
I hope you will call your Doc and get in to see him and find out what direction you need to go.

Thanks dr felps did my surgery ant the end of september. I was 600 lbs and I have lost 140 to date. Iam very happy for my loss but I'm doing it the wrong way. Iam still eating just about everything I used too just not near as much. I'm very intrested in buckeling down and really do this right. I feel bad cause I went in for my follow up a few weeks after my surgery and haven't went back. I'm kinda upset with the way tru results did me with my fills cause I started a new job with 8 weeks of intense training where I couldn't miss. I wanted to do a feel right before I started cause I knew I wouldn't be able to take off for 8 weeks. There were unwilling to work with me and I haven't had a fill in over a month which I really need. Did you ever have the same problem

They used to have one at the sugical center in Richardson. It was hosted by the AIGB folks. So I don't know if it's still going on. Who did your surgery? I would think they would know of a group. Worth a shot. I know there is a group in the Dalls area, independent of AIGB, that gets together monthly, but I don't know where or when. Hopefully, someone will see your post and give you a head's up. Best of luck.

Thanks for your input! I haven't seen Dr Marsden since my post-op amd it's my fault for not having gone back. I intend to make an appointment tomorrow and get a script for the diet pills. He had mentioned that to me, but I've just never considered it. I am now!
I like Slim Fast, but it doesn't seem to stay with me for very long. Probably all in my mind. I am going to try to do something every 4 hours and stop this in-between thing. I need to eat some fruit when I need a sweet fix and stop all the other crap I'm having.
Thank-you, Kesh. After hearing from you and Meghan I feel better already!

Hi Sandy, I feel your pain. I had both surgeries, the gastric bypass performed by Dr. Lawernece Barzume, in 2000 and then the lap band in 2007. Dr. Marsden performed my second surgery back in July and I down approx 15 lbs. I am going to say this, only because I feel a need too, I am taking diet pills as well to control my hungry. It works, really well. I am now on 1200 calorie diet. I eat a slim fast 4 hr drink and then lean cusine, and then another lean cusine for dinner and then if I feel hungry I drink another slim fast. I am trying to excersie but I often run out of town. With the diet I am doing now, I have now lost another 5 lbs in one week. I just thought I would share that with you. Also medifast, works well with those who have had the surgery. So don't fret, I am pulling for you.
Regards,
Kesh

This used to be such a wonderful posting board and I wish I knew what
has happened. I miss hearing how everyone was doing and getting
advice from those who have gone before me. To the best of my
knowledge even the AIGB monthly meetings are no more. I'm going to
toss this out and if it goes without any response I guess I'll delete
this group from my computer and try to find something else.
I had my surgery over a year ago and have only lost 45 pounds. Right
now I am putting weight back on because I have reverted to old habits
and don't know what to do. Rather I do know what to do, but don't
seem to have the drive to get there. I started back smoking thinking
that would keep me from eating, but that was exchanging one bad habit
for another. I've been trying to quit again and am back scouring for
food. I keep thinking about how much money I spent for this surgery
and it makes me sick that I am shooting myself in the foot.
I don't know how many fills I've had, but probably 5. I don't know
if I need another one even though I don't have to take small bites &
chew, chew, chew. Some things seem to fill me up quickly while other
things I can eat more of. I wonder if I have stretched out my
pouch. I wonder why I seem to be floundering. It's not that I don't
know what to do and yet I don't know what to do!
I think I will try to "infiltrate" Dr Snow's after care group and see
if I can't get back on track. God knows I need to do something. If
anyone has had the same problem and are willing to post, I would
really appreciate it.
