Depends what you mean as "regular food" . I was banded 12/22/06 and if I don't eat small bites and chew even now I throw up my food. Beef just isn't my friend and if the chicken is too dry it doesn't go down well either. Unfortunately, ice cream goes down good anytime with no problems ... as does tootsie rolls... figures doesn't it.
As I remember they told me you don't feel the restrictions until after your first fill, maybe that's why you can still eat all foods.
It is better to stick with the diet your doctor has given you though so that you start to train your brain and stomach for the new you that will be coming. The band is a great tool but you still have to make changes in your eating habits.
Good luck and your new life style.

I had the surgery on Oct. 18. I've lost 5 pounds!But....I haven't been
following the mushy food part of the diet that the doctor wants his
patients to follow for weeks 2-4 after the swurgery.I chew my food
really well and I have not thrown up or anything. I am concerned that I
might have stretched my stomach part because I can eat more than a 1/4
cup of food. I feel like I can eat the amount I was eating prior to the
band. I lost 8 pounds prior to the surgery and have another 35 pounds
to go. I am so worried that the band isn't working or I've hurt it in
some way. Has anyone out there eaten regular food just 2 weeks after
the surgery?????
