Hi Daylady!
Thanks for sharing!
Your obsession is nothing to be ashamed of. Like the person addicted to alcohol,
that's the way God made you. You were born that way. It is a given. The question
is, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to nurse it, let it rule
your life, and make you do things you will later regret? Or are you going
to--with God's help--get the mastery over it? In regard to being punched in the
stomach, maybe a gentle punch would be alright. A hard punch could be really
dangerous, though. But where does one draw the line? Can an alcoholic take just
one small drink without going overboard completely? Of course not. A punch in
the stomach is what killed the great magician Harry Houdini, and Edgar Cayce
says it can cause siezure disorders like epilepsy.
In any case, every member of this group is addicted to some type of unusual urge
or desire. Some of us have been given the victory over such and others are still
struggling. The important thing is that we recognize the need for change and we
are working to implement that change as God enables us. Jesus was my "change
agent," and it was a supernatural touch from Him that delivered me from my
addiction to fantasy violence against women. Others have found success in coping
with addictions through Christ-centered 12 step programs like the one I
recommend in the Home Page of this group.
Although we may slip now and then, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and
get back on that straight and narrow. So, keep trying and do not give up!
I want again to thank you for being brave enough to share your situation.
Hopefully, it will motivate others to do so as well, so that we can pray
intelligently for one another.
May God move mightly in the hearts, minds, and lives of those in this group,
causing them to be overcommers! And may God give every one of us the victory
over every weight, every care, and the sin which so easily besets!
With love in Christ,
