Hi,
During college I had surgery on my right knee to repair a torn ACL,
MCL, and medial meniscus. Recovery was pretty difficult, particularly
in getting range of motion back. I had to have another surgery in fact
to remove scar tissue and hardware and that helped me a great deal.
Recently I tore my left ACL, MCL, and meniscus. I went to physical
therapy before the reconstruction surgery then had the ACL repaired
on September 23rd. The doctor said the MCL would repair on its
own so he only repaired the ACL with a patellar tendon graft. He
also cleaned up the meniscus tear.
Recovery went very well the first week or two. I was very impressed
that I immediately had full extension in the post-surgery brace, and
flexion came much more quickly too.
Sadly, after the first few weeks I developed patellar tendonitis and
extreme pain. Things have really come to a stand-still and I'm not
doing well at all. I had gotten off crutches completely very fast after
the surgery (I was bearing weight the very day after surgery) but now
am back on the crutches. I feel so awful with the back slide and feel
like I will never heal. The knee is swollen, weak and very very painful.
Has anyone else had this kind of trouble?
