Hey all.
My name is Brook and I am 17 years old and a senior this year. I play
varsity basketball and softball for my school. I have had a total of
8 hip surgeries in the past 5 years and my last surgery was this
summer. I had FINALLY been cleared to play, and started playing in a
fall basketball league last weekend. Well, i came down wrong on my
knee and tore my acl. My doctor has ordered 4 weeks of physical
therapy to strengthen my knee and then surgery to repair my acl. I
have gone through so much surgery in the past five years with my
hips, and it's my senior year. Is it at all possible to just wear a
brace and play through it? If I have surgery, then I will miss
basketball season and come back late for softball season. It being my
senior year and have missed out on a lot already for my hip
surgeries, I would rather deal with the pain like i always have, and
play through it.
I guess all i'm needing is advice on what you think and what you
would do. I could tell you anything you'd ever want to know about hip
injuries and hip surgeries, but don't know the slightest thing about
knees and knee injuries. Thanks so much.
