i personally have not had the surgery ( though wish my dr had offered it) but know several people that have. they tend to offer it to those that are athletic or have had severe injuries such as yourself. cadaver donor is best as it helps with the recovery time. taking a tendon from your tibia or hamstring only makes for an additional recovery. recovery from surgery is painful. i understand you are in a locked leg brace for a week or so for the graft to "take". and then of course, physical therapy. those i know have returned fully to their sports. prior to surgery they usually want you going to pt to strengthen your hamstrings & glutes. i do my exercises at least 3 times a week or i get super floppy.
good luck to you
