About 4 months ago I fell from a bike and dislocated my right knee
cap, tore the meniscus, and the ACL. So unfortunately because of
the multiple injuries, I had to immobilize my leg for 6 weeks to
heal the dislocation, which resulted in quite a bit of atropy and
loss of flexion. So then I did PT prior to surgery for about a
month to get flexion back.
Had surgery about 6 weeks ago. Doc was going to use my patellar
tendon from the injured knee, but when he harvested it and tried to
use it - it was degenerated and he wasn't able to use it. He said
it would stretch like a rubber band instead of staying nice and
tight. So he went into my left knee and took the tendon from that
knee - this time success.
I was wondering if anyone has encountered this before. Bummer is I
have to rehab both knees - but obviously I'm dealing with more
issues on my right knee with pain and stiffness. Now I'm 6 weeks
post op and moving around good, but my biggest issue is stiffness.
Feels good after exercise, but tightens up within a half hour or
so. Hopefully that gets better soon because it slows me down and
I'm afraid I might be walking with a little limp due to the
stiffness.
