Aleve or naproxen can cause problems. A few years ago I took some
Aleve for knee pain and about 1/2 hour later my Baker's cyst ruptured
and the fluid leaked down my leg. My leg was swollen and sensitive to
the touch for several months afterwards. I attributed it to the Aleve
but wasn't sure.
Last week I had knee surgery for a meniscus tear and one of the meds
the doctor prescribed was naproxyn. I hesitated to take it but his
nurse vehemently instructed me to take it for the swelling. Bang, a
new baker's cyst formed and now my foot and ankle is swollen all the
way down to my toes. So I will never take Aleve )naproxyn)for anything.
I am using vicks and Lanacaine for the skin pain which resulted from
the swelling.
