Ice - I didn't use a CPM machine, but I was up and around the day
after the operation using plenty of icing and leg raising to keep
down the swelling. I tore the ACL doing Judo and am now back to
light training. I just saw that one of the UK national Judo team has
won an international medal in competition less than a year after
tearing his ACL (then having it repaired), so I don't see any reason
why you should make a 100% recovery and get back to football
(soccer). My surgeon gave me the choice of leaving my sport and
keeping the ACL torn or having the operation and going back to Judo!
The only advice I would give is don't take yourself through the pain
barrier trying to push forward your recovery as every time I did that
it set me back.
Good luck in your recovery!

stitches out and will ask about the numbness. Some sensation has
come back since my post. Did you use a CPM machine? I got to 90
yesterday I could really feel it. I am hopeful to get back to soccer
mid-August. How did you blow your ACL, and have you gone back to the
same sport (assuming that is how you tore yours)? I've had a few
naysayers, but the surgeon, therapist and team are behind me 100%.
The naysayers are the faces I see when the pain is excruciating on
the CPM machine and will be reserved for future knee torments :-).
