Re: ACL repair

Hi Dave

I partially tore my ACL and risked not having it repaired. My sport
is Judo and I used a brace to help get me back to match fitness, once
I'd built the atrophied muscles back up. It felt great, but on my
first competitive fight since the injury, the remains of the ACL were
torn along with the mensicus cartilige. I'm now 5 months post ACL
repair (using patella tendon) and recovery going well. So I'd
definately advise getting the operation, especially for hockey.

Hi Dave, I would get a 2nd opinion if I were you. I completely tore my ACL 4 months ago and with a customized knee brace I can still ski, play tennis, etc...

Sonya, Thanks for the info. I have seen two doctors. Both of their opinions were the same. They said that the rest of the knee looks good so best to get it...
