Hi Rob
I haven't had a ruptured tendon, but I think I have a problem. So I
can't help you out, but am curious to hear how you found out the tendon
was ruptured. Did the knee give out, could you walk at all? Or did it
take its time in coming?
I have had sort of a tingling/ticklish sensation in the general kneecap
area on the left side, which felt like it was more "on top" of the knee
versus in the joint itself, accompanied by occasional shooting pain
sensations down the shin into the foot/big toe. This has been for about
6 months and has since given way recently to a very tender spot right
below the kneecap that constantly has low-grade pain. When I touch it
it feels like there is a bruise underneath. But there is no noticeable
swelling or redness, like bursitis. I can walk and do sports, but it
takes about a day for the increased pain to go down.
My concern is that it is indeed the tendon and is either ruptured or
will. How will I know, and what can I do anymore? I have seen 3 doctors
and only one thought of tendon and suggested shockwave therapy, which
didn't help. Others thought it was due to my flat feet or meniscus, as
I had surgery on the right knee last year. I think that I coddled it so
much that I strained the left side.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
