Hi All,
How:
While playing basketball ------> knee twisted inward and my body continued to roll overtop of my knee untill it gave. April 2006
Result:
- I fell to the ground and thought my knee dislocated, realized it wasnt.
- I stretched it and put it through a range of motion that was comfortable using my arms.
- I could put my body weight on it and jog lightly right after, but do no lateral movement.
Situation:
- Hasn't healed and I have been out of playing sports for the most part all summer.
- My knee will feel fine, but if I try to do certain things I get striking pain in my knee for a second, fall to the ground, and then its sore for a couple days.
What Gives me Pain:
- If I jump straight up as you would normally, and if i my right leg completely extends this will make my knee quite sore.
- If while playing soccer or football, I juke or fake to the right and my leg it out to the side it will give way and I get the striking pain.
- When I squat and my knee bends all the way it also give it an aching pain.
- That said I feel the biggest area of concern is the side-to-side movement, I perform leg press with a decent weight as well as leg extentions throught he first 70-80 degrees or motion.
Help:
Anyone that has had this before? Do I need surgery??? I am a competitive person and my main sports are soccer, football, squash, ultimate frisbee, and hocky... If surgery means going without them for another 8-12 months I would accept this if it means playing again over not having surgery and not playing.
Thanks for your help.
