I rented a pair of crutches for the first two weeks - they were a godsend!
And, if you have a tub that has a high edge, you are going to need someone
to help you in an out of the tub once you can shower...so it's important
that the person is someone you are comfortable with. :)
I also went and got my pain meds the day before my surgery, so they were
there waiting for me when I needed them. I got one of those Igloo Ice
Cooler things from the hospital to go home with...make sure you have one of
those! It's a cooler attached to a little pad that ice water circulates
through and even to this day, I use it on the "bad days". I wouldn't be
without it!!!
hmmm..what else? Ohhh..I used a couch cusion to prop my leg up in bed as
pillows were too soft to prop it up for prolonged periods. I brought the tv
into my bedroom which was the closest room to the bathroom.... ummmm... and
when you are taking the pain meds...make sure and take the other stuff they
give you for constipation..cuz trust me...it happens and then you are sicker
than a dog!! ugh!
I slept ALOT during the first week. Then, the second week, I was up and
about.
