Christine,
I don't know why your PT is scaring you; it takes awhile to stretch
the quad back out. I don't know any drastic measures. Just don't let
them push you beyond your limits. You are the only one who knows what
it feels like --- let them know when enough is enough!
As far as the pain meds, my friend who is codeine sensitive, takes
Talwin or Ultracet.
Take your meds about 45 minutes (with a cracker or yogurt) before
going to PT and it will help. Ice pack your knee for 20 minutes after
working out. This will reduce the swelling.
I use a heating pad in the mornings before working out, as this seems
to increase the circulation and alleviate stiffness.
I am in my 5th week of PT and I'm only at 110 degrees flex, but I can
walk without a brace or crutches... the flex will come. Just take it
day by day and try to not be impatient.
Good luck to you,
Mystic
