I had my original injury 12 years prior to having surgery.  I continued to play the original sport(soccer) as well as others for 3+ years after the intial injury.  I do still have a lack of confidence 6 months post op though-my PT wanted me to jump/hop on my leg and I just couldn't make myself do it.

... It's tough for me to really say how long it takes. I had my surgery (ACL patellar tendon, partial meniscus removal) in Nov. 2002. Here I am 2 1/2 years...

once you have had an injury anywhere it will never never be back to normal. as for themenical haveing part of it rmoved is what they did to me i had 2 large...
