Hello Everyone!
Well, I am 3 weeks out and getting a bit (no, a lot, actually)
impatient. I keep telling myself to take it one day at a time.
My first PT session last Thursday went well and since, then, I have
not required the high powered pain meds during the day. Today I had
my second session (lasts about 2 hours) and, man, do they mean
business or what!??!
As of today, I can bend to 82 degrees (almost 90!!) and I am much
better with the hyper extension or straightening than I was last
week. (I've been working on that especially in the daily exercises,)
My Don Joy brace has been set from zero to 40 degress for flexion. I
am hoping he'll put it to 70 by the end of the week. I get around
with the aid of one crutch mostly. I can walk without the crutch but
I do find that it doesn't take much for me to "pay" for overdoing it
with more pain the next day.
I am fortunate that I can work from home; otherwise, I would be out
on disability. However, I have good days and bad days from a
productivity standpoint. I suppose that is to be expected.I am also
fortunate to have an understanding boss but being stuck at home and
away from interaction with co-workers is driving me nuts and is
starting to make me depressed. I plan on going into the office for
1/2 day at the end of next week (office is a 45 mile commute).
My big "complaint", I suppose, is I have pain around the incision
area. Stabbing pain to achey that is intermittent and barely
contained with ibuprofen. Has anyone else experienced this? How long
should I expect it to last?
As usual, I appreciate any advise and I thank you for the
encouragement.
