Well, it has been a little while since I have posted and I want to
give everyone a quick update. My wife sprained her knee and tore her
acl in decemeber. Had surgery in Jan using her own graft (hamstring
I think). Then, did the PT and stuff but had excessive growth of
scar tissue which limited her range of motion. In april, her doc
went back in and cleaned her up and explained how she is in the
small percentage of people who just build excessive scar tissue very
quickly. So, she continued with PT and had the same quick buildup of
scar tissue. Cpm machine had minimal effect as did a JAS splint. So,
we went for a 2nd opinion of a top Dr in the U.S. and he said that
he had seen many cases like hers, and he hasn't seen one that he
couldn't help. Some take multiple scoping and a few years.
Recommended a pain specialist as her knee is still sensitive to the
touch. He said it is the bodies natural reaction to build scar
tissue in response to pain and in her case, it well be best for the
Pain Specialist to get that under control before going back in. Once
her parasympathetic system is normalized, then they will have better
results. Makes sense to me. More of a holistic approach. So, I will
keep everyone updated!
