Re: Glimmer's ACL Surgery

Hi Glimmer,

Good luck on your surgery. How did your injure your knee? Are you
having allograft or hamstring/patella tendon graft? Are you having
outpatient surgery?

The best advice I can give you is after surgery, elevate and ice.
Constantly. The next best piece is, if you don't have a high
tolerance for pain (or you just don't want to put up with it) ask for
Oxycontin for that first week post op. It will take much of the edge
off the post op pain so you won't be popping percocet or vicodin
every few hours. The other thing it does is make you groggy which is
good because that means you will rest. If you want oxycontin, ask for
a prescription now so you have it when you come home from surgery.
Most pharmacies now need 24-48 hours notice to fill oxycontin.

Good luck on your surgery. With time to heal AND persistant physical
therapy, you won't regret it!
