I tore the medial meniscus, medial collateral ligament, and broke a
muscle back in October. Had Arthroscopic surgery in December. Went
back to work (probably too soon) and wasnt doing well. Things kept
getting worse. Had another MRI in May which showed another Meniscus
tear, the ligament had gotten worse, and now there was also a cyst.
Had Athroscopic surgery again in June. I still cant walk too good and
have alot of pain. My doctor says its because on arthritis and
because there is no meniscus left. He wants to do an operation where
they poke holes in the remaining meniscus and insert these special
rods. Its suppose to increase the size of the meniscus you have left
and also stimulates the meniscus to grow around the rods to increase
its size. The doctor wants to do this first to try and avoid a full
knee replacement. I dont want to do a replacement if I dont have to,
but after 2 scopes and now this I'm starting to feel like a science
project. If there is anyone who knows about this or has had it done I
would appreciate your input and how it has worked for you. I dont
want to go through anothe operation, waste another 4 months only to
have to have it replaced in the long run.
Thanks for any help you can give me, Doug.
