Has anyone had a Severed Patella, ACL & MCL in one injury??   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #184 of 1299 |
My OS has treated the Severed lower Patella and the ACL in separate
patients - but he and several colleagues have never had to deal with
BOTH in one patient. I blew out all three falling from a block in
volleyball. Evidently the MCL repairs itself. Because the recovery
methods for Patella surgery and the ACL surgery are diabolically
opposed, (ACL you begin leg movement ASAP and Patella must remain in
the brace at least 6 months with no movement), he could not repair
both in one procedure. He and his colleagues decided the only option
was to do Patella surgery first - and then down the road do the ACL.
I am one week postop on that. Was hoping to find someone/anyone that
has had this done before so ask advise on how long in between these 2
surgeries do they suggest I wait. Also, how did their OS handle
their injury, etc. So far, I am alone in the world.
Thanks...Stacey
