Hi Amy,
I feel your pain. Did someone have to set you up with a computer?
I had to make adjustments to use my computer during the first few
days post-op.
30 degrees sounds pretty bad, I would definitly recommend doing your
bending exercises at least three times daily. When I had mine done
they wouldn't let me leave the hospital until I could bend it 90
degrees.
What did the therapy evaluation say?
My knee was very sore also. But suprisingly it heals fast to the
point of being able to get around. I'd say in a week you'll be
crutching around, and by two-two 1/2 weeks you will be just walking
with your brace.
It took me a month to walk without a brace. I'd have to say they
were not fun times that first month. Nor would I say they are fun
times now (I'm 5 months out). Fun times is when you can go play
tennis or basketball. Or run till your heart's content. Or play
softball.
But what's 8-12 months out of your entire life?
Don't rush it. Be diligent about your exercises, especially the
initial bending and flexing ones. You'll be bending at 140 in no
time.
Good luck and stay positive!

Today I had the staples removed and had a physical therapy re-
evaluation. My knee is very sore and the pain meds they have me on
aren't working as expected. I have exercises that I have to do
regularly and one of them is bending my knee. Before the surgery I
was bending at 140 degrees, now it's only 30 degrees. Is there
anything I can do to rush along this recovery? I'm a single mother
of 2 boys and it's tearing at my heart to have them with relatives
until I am able to move around without crutches. Anyway, I'm not
sure about this group and how often you post, but any advice given
will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Amy
