Hi susan
Have been contemplating your fluids dilema.
Have you thought of gelatine? not sure of the protein content etc
but may be worth trying.
Does she drink dairy products? You could try Double cream (60% fat)
and add water so that its still thick but getting some fluids from
the water. Cant count the cream amount as fluid tho.
Or using milk powder, just make it thicker than usual.
There are lots of diet low joule cordials. If you can use gelatine
or some other thickening substance, you could flavour it with the
cordial.
Another thought is that you could give Molly soup meals, check the
soups out at the supermarket. some have low carb and protein. You
can mix in some double cream and/or oils for the fat content and add
water to give her the fluids-
but remember, just because its all fluid doesn't mean you can count
it all as her fluid intake because a percentage of it is food
content. only count the water you add and whatever water amount is
in the food you add.
Also, one food drink that Annan liked was a banana eggnog consisting
of banana, 6o%fat double cream(coles home brand or gippsland), egg,
oil and as much water as you want to use.

positive effect on her seizures, which is very encouraging. Main
issues for us with the diet are not so much the food, but the
fluids. Prior to starting the diet Molly was progressing very
slowly with oral drinking and was really only managing thickened
fruit juice well.

with mixed success, and are keeping her hydrated with diet jelly
(yuck!). Her bowels are proving to be another big issue (previously
well managed just with prune & pear daily) - very painful &
distressing constipation. Also, I am not to thrilled about feeding
my under-2 year old artificial sweeteners and colourings on a daily
basis...
